SV alumni updates! [Feb. 12th, 2013|08:58 pm]
tasabian
Happy Birthday bagheera_san! Hope it's been a good one.

Here's a sentence I thought would never exist: "This week, Tom watched roller derby with Marcia Gay Harden, while filming the role of President John F. Kennedy's 48 year old bodyguard." Hello, Beautiful!

KK did a twitter Q & A a few days ago: while I may never love Lexana, I do like how much she enjoyed working with Michael!

Your guess is as good as mine what's going on here.

Have to leave for work in about 5 minutes, so I don't have time to comment on everything (and I do have thoughts about everything).

RE: TW as Roy Kellerman. Although the age is wrong, I think it's a good thing. Kellerman is most likely a big role, probably bigger than Clint Hill would've been. But I find it odd that Hill isn't on the character list. In fact, Kellerman is the only Secret Service agent on the list and I find that strange because the official description of the film seems to imply more than one Agent. My speculation (and my spec is ALWAYS wrong) is that TW is playing a composite character who encompasses Kellerman, Hill and probably some other agents.

That makes sense. I wonder if they avoided using Hill because he's still alive? (& still apparently carrying unwarranted guilt from the day.)

Good for Tom, nabbing a choice role! Wonder if he auditioned? If so, he must have impressed them.

I have no clue. If I had to guess I'd say yes, he did audition. A stoic, heroic Secret Service agent may not be a huge stretch from Clark Kent, but the tone of this film is presumably so different from what he's done before, I would think the producers and director would want to make sure he'd fit comfortably into the acting style of the ensemble.

As for my thoughts on other things...

RE: KK's love for season 6
While I didn't love S6 and only liked Lexana in theory (not in practice), I'm happy that KK enjoyed it. Like you mention below, it shoots a big hole in the "MR wanted to make-out with KK" theory, which, honestly was full of holes to begin with.

If someone suggested MR put pressure on the producers to let him make-out with ED, so to appease him they wrote that scene in Noir, maybe I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand. (I probably still would.) But the idea that AlMiles would create a multi-seasonal plot arc just to allow MR to sexually harass their leading lady? That's ridiculous. For one thing, KK would own TimeWarner now from all the law suits.

But, because I must over think everything, I'm particularly fascinated by her S6 love because that's the season she was trying to get out of her contract. Maybe she made the decision to leave during S5, but she changed her mind and came back in S7 because she enjoyed S6 so much. I don't know.

Re: Green Poncho MR
LOL. I'm so confused by the teal bandanna. Everything else makes sense to me, but not that.

IMO, Michael is actually a nervous kisser (you can see him being tentative with just about everyone except Krista Allen, who was an old hand at kissing scenes and goes to town on him.) Whereas Tom, when given the go-ahead, really goes ahead especially with Alicia and Maxima!

What's interesting about the Lex/Lois kiss was there was no fan reaction that I can recall, no outrage. I guess the Lexois shippers were pleased but otherwise fandom was like "well, that happened. Let's move on." Mostly I remember laughing that they were kissing in Clark's barn - what a violation of sacred Clex space!

The wicked!seducer!Michael theory was probably fun for RPF but from the out-takes, it's clear she's very entertained by him. This isn't the first time KK's singled out S6 as her fave. Which doesn't mean she didn't love working with Tommy too, she's said she adores him, just was ready for a new dynamic for Lana. If only Lexana had been more fun for the audience!)

The teal bandanna needs an explanation!

I've never noticed MR being a hesitant kisser, but I do agree that TW seems very comfortable kissing strangers. I imagine he's kissed so many people he's just met that by now it's almost like shaking hands.

The wicked!seducer!Michael theory was probably fun for RPF
I must admit I wouldn't turn down an encounter with Wicked!Seducer!Michael (especially if he brought Eager!Kisser!Tom along with him), but if I said "no" I'd expect him to respect that. And there's no indication that Real!Life!Michael would do anything that Wicked!Seducer!Michael wouldn't do.

Hmm, I thought his kisses with Erica were, for the most part, very hesitant. Not all of them, but a lot of them.

And do people who actually believe that MR wanted to sexually harass Kristin theory even exist? I mean, seriously?? I never heard this one before, so I'm sort of flabbergasted.:/

His most passionate kisses, I thought, were when he was playing an altered version of Clark and got to let loose: Red, Luthor, Hypnotic, Unsafe etc. He's probably careful to see what his leading lady is comfortable with & dialing up or dialing back accordingly.

I agree. I am not a fan of the Clana kisses, but the kiss in Red was excellent; he was kissing her in the way that made me believe he couldn't get enough of her. The kisses Tom sharedwith Erica, it seemed to me, made both actors uncomfortable (the almost-kiss in the beginning of Upgrade comes to mind - I just thought they both looked almost relived when their kiss was interrupted by Lois' cell ringing.)

I hope they don't make him a compilation of characters since it would mess with history. From what i've researched Kellerman will be an interesting role. Derelect in his duty to protect the president at all costs, and demanding of taking possession of Kennedy's body to take to Washington when Texas had jurisdiction to do the autopsy. And when reporters questioned his wife after he'd died, she'd admitted that he thought the assassination was definately a conspiracy. Let's face it, I would see this movie if Tom were an extra, but a complx character will make it a plus!

That's a good point - maybe Clint Hill will be there, but a non-speaking role?

So excited for this! Thomas chose his first post-SV job well.

The fact I speculated he may be playing a composite character means that in all likelihood he isn't (because I am ALWAYS wrong).

Heh, well I never would have guessed him for Kellerman...kinda chuffed he's playing a character that's older than me (after so many years of lusting after him playing a teenager!)

Not saying a composite character would be awful. The more he's on-screen, the more I'll like it!Just will be another historically inaccurate movie. In a way, I'm glad he'll be in an ensamble(sp.?) cast. Take some of the pressure off our boy.

Heh, I have no idea what is going on in thet last pic! Some green-screen thing? Which involves a bandana. Hmm.

I like that Kristin is aware that lots of SV fans hate season 6, heh. But it did give her something more interesting to do, plus lots of working with Michael so not surprised that she liked it.

So good to see Tom back working on something. Yay!

He's playing a disembodied head (with bandanna?) Ah, the Mysteries of Michael.

There were a few fans who insisted that the Lexana plot happened because wicked MR strong-armed the producers to put him in a romance plot with a reluctant KK; it's nice when KK debunks that with her own enthusiasm for S6.

Tom's movie has wrapped so he will probably disappear back to his hermit cave for a while. But at least we got some pics & a film to look forward to!

Jesus, were those fans insane? wonder if they are capable of distinguishing between a character and an actor. I mean, seriously, making vile accusations like that? They should have been sued for slander, as far as I'm concerned.

wonder if they are capable of distinguishing between a character and an actor.
It was only a few fans but here's how it happened: one of the writers, Steve DeKnight, had a myspace blog & fans went there to discuss (and complain) about episodes. After a number of complaints about Clark & Lana breaking up and Lex & Lana as a couple, he said something about an actor having requested a new plotline for S6. It was a very vague statement but a few unhappy fans interpreted it as Michael demanding Lexana. (Which is silly - the producers had clearly been forshadowing the love triangle since S3.)

Most Clana fans did not think this way; one of my best LJ pals 'ships Clana and has always adored Michael. But a few fans crossed over from shipping Clana to KK/TW, hence being even more upset by the fictional "break-up."

This is years ago & any grumbles like that have been erased by all the interviews in which KK has said she enjoyed working with MR (and he with her.)

Thank you for telling me, although now I am even more creeped out. They foreshadowed Lexana even in season 1 (Metamorphosis, Nicodemus), so I have no idea what those fans were smoking. God, the Smallville fandom was creepy. Not all of it, of course, but some corners of it... I never saw anything like that anywhere else.

Good for Kristin. ;D

And that greenscreen whatever they're doing looks hysterical in the set up. I love behind the scenes for when special effects are being added in later. Shows how much work the actors really have to do!
