Tom emerges; Michael shows some skin [Feb. 8th, 2016|09:27 pm]

Happy Birthdays to tallihensia and mahaliem and fruitbat00!

After nearly 3 months in hospital and 2 hip replacements, my Dad is finally back home. I was at my parents' house for most of last week & am headed back tomorrow. I want to be unreservedly optimistic but it still feels...I guess, precarious is the word. The hip is healing but he's had knee problems on the same leg. Am hoping this resolves as the muscle strengthens and doesn't cause another fall. He's a trooper, my dad, but he's not a young guy. On the plus side, we have been bombarded with follow-up health care, to a bewildering degree. I had to make a spreadsheet to track the 8 (!) different agencies that are involved in dad's follow up care. We're most grateful but it's been a bit like living in an airport.

My parents live 5 hours away which has meant a lot of train travel. I've been waking up not knowing where I am, sometimes panicked that Dad has fallen (when it's just a cat jumping in the next room.)

In a surprise development, Tom has joined facebook & instagram and been doing interviews to promote "The Choice." Look how huge and gorgeous he is!

I like this quote from the interview: http://www.filmcolossus.com/the-choice/interviews/actor-tom-welling

Chris: "Would you be a good guy or bad guy?"

Tom: "The bad guy you want to root for. That's always fun. It's an actor thing, haha. So many of the best villains in the world seem like cool guys. There are very few people who are trying to be bad or trying to be good. You can look at some of the most villainous characters, whether it's in the superhero genre or any other, they're trying to do something they believe is good. They're trying to make things better, usually just for themselves, but it's always a good challenge for an actor to make an unlikable character likable to an audience. An understanding of where that person's coming from."

He wants to be Lex, the sweetie! I endorse this.

From Tom's instagram, a rather Michael-esque pose. On his latest photo, Tom wrote out #hashtag and a bunch of commenters told him that's not how you do it...but I think that's his wry sense of humour.

Topless Michael. holding a child. This bodes well for shirtless scenes in S2 of Impastor!

Get out of the way, girls - you're blocking the view!

Wishes for a speedy, successful recovery for your dad. I couldn't imagine being in the hospital for 3 months. That's incredible to have 8 agencies for follow up care. Nice to have that much support, if probably a bit overwhelming too.

From the pic of Tom with that interviewer, I get a feeling that I'd look like a little kid next to Tom. lol I'm only 5'3". Very nice interview and seems like the interviewer had a really nice time talking with Tom too. :)

Though, the more I see the commercials for The Choice, the more annoyed I get with it. There is absolutely NOTHING about the lead guy that appeals to me. He actually kinda creeps me out. *shudders* I just REALLY REALLY hope Tom's TV show works out so I can see him in something soon.

Those two photo booth pics of Michael fit him perfectly, how he can be so fun/goofy to serious. And ALWAYS gorgeous! But hot guys with kids should be illegal! Seriously Michael, trying to kill all us gals out here? *drools* YES to more shirtless Buddy!!! ♥

It's definitely better than being chucked out the hospital door with no follow-up - this morning we had an occupational therapist, a guy installing safety bars in the shower and a nurse to give Dad a blood test, all by 11am!

The photographer might have to back way up to fit both your heads in the same frame! (Or you'd have to stand on a box.)

I had planned to see The Choice but right now I don't want to see any show or movie with a hospital in it...

I'm sure he won't deny us shirtless Buddy, hopefully in episode 1!

Tom can fit that guy in his pocket and have room for James Marsden. Wow.

So glad to hear your dad is back home. This has been a long road you have all been on but hopefully this help and any physical therapy will just provide more strength. I'm sure it' been hard (oh, have I been there caring for a parent) but I have faith you will all pull through wonderfully well.

Thanks, my dear. It's a universal experience, isn't it? Especially for women. I'm lucky in that my Dad is very easygoing and patient with everything.

That size difference is just rrrowwwr! Tom needs to stand next to Taron Egerton next.

Glad your dad is home at last - 3 months in hospital is pretty tough on the whole family. Hope it all goes smoothly from here on and the support agencies don't get too confusing!

Tom looks enormous in that pic! That must be a little guy he's standing next to surely! And of course he wants to be Lex, he had seven years of Michael showing him how to do it and then there's the inevitable Michael man-crush of course.

Thanks! We're lucky our health care system offers all the support it does.

Michael needs to cast him in a Lex-role on Impastor or more importantly, I need to see that!

The short guy, Chris

I'm 5'6, so the size difference was pretty spectacular! The handshake was also funny. Tom's hands are the size of football and mine are the size of a baseball. Hopefully I hit that 29 year old growth spurt then can take another picture with Tom haha.

I'm happy to hear your dad is home! Being a caregiver is always exhausting. So I hope you're managing to take care of yourself as well, or have someone that's doing that. Hope everything goes well!

Re: The short guy, Chris

Heh, well that's the same height as me so if I ever had the pleasure of meeting Tom he would tower over me as well!

Re: The short guy, Chris

Hi Chris - loved your interview! Tom used to be less forthcoming in his interviews but he seemed very comfortable & chatty with you. I'm also 5'6 so now I know how I would look standing next to Tom, should I ever be so lucky :)

Thanks re. my Dad! We're getting there, day by day.

I'm so glad your dad could come home, I really think it will make a difference in his recovery. It's wonderful that you have support services, but that in itself can be overwhelming. A spreadsheet to keep track is just how I would do it, too! It must be exhausting for you to travel back and forth so much. I'm sure it means the world to both your parents to have you there.

Of course Michael has his shirt off! lol And wow, he looks amazing. Excited to get reports from the set when Impastor starts filming again! I'm curious to see which friends of Michael's show up as guest stars in S2.

Tom on social media! I never thought we would see the day. I agree that his #hashtag is a joke, and the funniest part is watching people take him to task over it. He used it again on his most recent pic. He has 53K followers so far, which isn't bad for a week. As usual, he's been a total trooper promoting The Choice, but he's different this time, more open and candid than I've ever seen him before. The past few weeks have been an amazing time to be a Tom fan.

Thanks - this visit has been a little easier. It's the same people (nurses, therapists etc) returning rather than a stream of new people so the familiarity makes it less stressful.

One friend in particular would be desirable!

Yes! It's a shame Section 13 might not happen but he's all ready to launch the next project, what ever it should be and he can see there's a big fanbase waiting for him!
