*spoilers inside*

A definite improvement over Doomsday!

Liked:
- For a Clexer, there were some sweet moments here. Naturally, Clark would dream of a future where Lex is still alive. And his musing to Lois about his "relationships that ended too soon" was a nice shout-out to Clex and Clana.
- Also love that Clark acknowledges those relationships happened - they're part of who he is and what he brings to the table with Lois.
- The pre-secrets portion of the Clois barn scene was very good. Often with Clois scenes, I miss Clark POV but Tom had some great stuff to work with and Erica sold it very well too.
- Callum B., who I've had doubts about, was great tonight. Love that Zod is consistently not that bright and betrayed himself with the least subtle stage-whisper in TV history! He also got in one last "KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!" which reached campiness of Zor-El proportions. Kudoes!
- That was Granny Goodness in the hospital, yes? Very sinister and nicely done. And I doubt very much that Tess is permanently dead. Cassidy Freeman rocked her scenes.
- Tom got some powerful speeches tonight. When he said "I killed my father!" I got chills. I've never thought that, but knowing Clark does adds to the link between himself and Lex.
- As soon as Chloe sent Oliver into the airvents, I knew we would get an "Alien" homage but it was very well done, particularly Justin's last line.
- Martha made the costume!
- All the Kandorians dramatically ripping off their armbands - YOU'RE NOT IN FASHION ANY MORE, ZOD!
- And unlike last year: a suspenseful ending!

Disliked
- The secrets portion of the Clois barn scene. Had a familiar ring to it...
- Why wasn't Lois covering Zod's reign of terror instead of poking around Clark's barn? Would also have preferred if Lois had been suspicious enough not to bring the Book of Rao to meet the Blur.
- It would have been more powerful if Clark was arguing to leave Earth with the Kandorians and Chloe was begging him to stay.

Overall: better than Doomsday, Phantom and Exodus. About the same as Vessel. Not as good as Tempest, Covenant, Commencement or Arctic (yes, that's the Clex-cuddle bias shining through there!)

The AWESOME far outweighed the "huh?" for me, so I can't give it any rating less than EPIC. And I know the cliffhanger was particularly cliffhangery, but how amazing is Clark that he was a) willing to leave Earth in order to help the Kandorians and save Earth, and b) sacrificing himself to get Zod off of this planet. You know Vala is going to kill Zod on that new planet all thanks to the Kryptonian justice system that blood relatives take revenge for their murders.

And as a Cloiser, LOIS FUCKING KNOWS!!!!

I like a proper cliffhanger and in this case we got multiples! Beautiful final shot. From Beeman's blog, it sounds like his tweaks to the episode made it a lot better and put the focus back on Clark.

And as a Cloiser, LOIS FUCKING KNOWS!!!!
And I'm not really a Cloiser but I do like that she figured it out and the way Erica breathed "Clarkkk..."!

We are in agreement.

I was shocked that I liked it as much as I did. I still have some problems with it, but much more to like then not like. And you know the big reason why? CLARK! He was written very well for the most part, and given a clear POV, and it makes all the difference in the world.

It absolutely does, the difference between a pass & a fail. Beeman's influence, perhaps?

Did Zod go into the portal? I think he did, someone explain please?
Yes, the only reason Clark didn't go in as well was the BlueK.

What is gonna happen with Chloe, Oliver? I thought this is AM's last season?
Allison is back for at least part of S10.

I think Tess is gone, she will be missed!
I think she'll be resurrected for S10 and Darkseid!

I haven't seen the episode but was this "dream" shown? I'm a Clark/Lex fan so is it worth it to watch this episode?

Yup, it was shown. The Lex part just involves Lois reading a newspaper headline that reads "Lex Luthor runs for President", but it's a fun shout-out anyway.

Clark doesn't appear in his own dream (except as a blur) but he sees Lois and Lex's photograph in the paper!

Bwah, this cracked me up. :D

he secrets portion of the Clois barn scene. Had a familiar ring to it...

I know what you mean, but somehow, ED manages to do the whole thing without getting on my nerves. KK was always too whispery and judgmental-sounding when she whipped out those "secrets and lies" speeches. The dialogue probably had a lot to do with it, too. I'm just not that annoyed when Lois does it.

Would also have preferred if Lois had been suspicious enough not to bring the Book of Rao to meet the Blur.

Yes, but she needed to have it around to give it to the real Blur when he arrived. Plot device! :P But I did like that she was clever enough to lie about it as soon as she sensed something was wrong.

It would have been more powerful if Clark was arguing to leave Earth with the Kandorians and Chloe was begging him to stay.

Agreed. I understood Clark's wish to stay and help the people of Earth, but that conversation just felt reversed, and almost OOC. It doesn't help that almost the exact thing happened a couple of seasons ago in "Apocalypse", and it was Clark wanting to leave, and Chloe begging him to stay.

I would have liked her to have connected the dots before the meeting - that the disturbances around the world were being caused by the faux-Blur, and show up to trap a confession out of him.

Bwah, this cracked me up.
They're all so serious too!

I love that Clark' vision had Lex so front and center in their lives!

I so apreciated the Clark POV. Way, way overdue.

Has to be GG. This, coupled with Oliver saying 'these aren't Kandorians', and I think it's pretty safe to say which direction the show will go in next season.

//And unlike last year: a suspenseful ending!//

Definitely. For me, most suspenseful is actually Oliver' fate.

I know- what a surprise to have a suspenseful Oliver cliffhanger!

They used those flashes of GG very well - that one teasing glimpse at first was very effective.

And good speeches for Tom, which he aced! Hurrah!

And as much as I loved Lex, I love Lois and Clark the next generation more.
I like Clark with Lois as long as the show stays resolutely action focused -like this ep. - as opposed to attempting romantic comedy, like Escape or romantic goop, like Pandora.

For me the show will never exceed the sweet shiny innocence of the early seasons: Clark in the loft, Lex in the manor, meteor freaks in the woods and sunshine over British Columbia.

This season produced at least 4 episodes I really liked: Rabid, Warrior, Absolute Justice and Salvation so I'd rank it higher than S8, for sure.

I think it's doing Lois and Clark better than Lois and Clark did.
I do agree with that - never a big L & C fan. SV has managed to produce better action eps and I prefer Tom to Dean.

Relationships indeed. It's good that neither are forgotten. :)

Martha made the costume!
So great! And I think another one of Clark's abilities must be that letters don't look backwards when reflected in his eyes.

The secrets portion of the Clois barn scene. Had a familiar ring to it...
And when Lois exited the barn full of disappointment all I could think was... I've seen this before.

Why wasn't Lois covering Zod's reign of terror instead of poking around Clark's barn?
I'm guessing she was on her "special mission" for the Blur so reporting would have to wait? Though I do want to know why Lois seemed to have to look at the paper to find out Lex was running for President.
