Hee well I like all of your suggestions, but considering how much the writers were playing on him as the "misunderstood saint" in his final arc (according to their words in the SV companion anyway), I wonder if his return will just be about guidance for Clark?

My expectation would be that the writers will conveniently "forget" that Lionel was ever "good" & he will return villainous. Ghost Jonathan and likely J'onn are around for Clark-guidance.
ROFL at the shave his head one! *snicker*
I can totally see them going there. "Well, we can't get Michael back and people got mad that we used a stunt double last year...so we'll send Clark into the future, have John shave his head and TA DA, Lex! No one could be mad about John!"
I think I cheated and marked two on the last question.
I think it's an okay idea. IMO all of this stacking the deck is becoming a bit overkill but I'd love it if Lionel is a clone and it's suggested that this was something Lex did out of regret for killing him. But anything with Glover is golden.

I can also imagine Lionel cloning himself and Lex killing the clone...and it wouldn't surprise me if Tess is a Lilian-clone. (Does that mean we'll get a Lionel-Tess sex scene? Oh yes please.)
Glover's going to come in, have a great time, make some cash and head back to the theatre for a year!

Tess as a Lillian Clone?
Given the physical similarities that would actually make a whole lot of sence. And then it's proof that attraction to Clark is a genetic trait in the Luthor household!
I sort of hope he's Not Really Dead and will therefore come back as himself, but... yeah. Unlikely.
...at least John has the right haircut?
Unless Lex killed a clone? I wouldn't put that twist past the writers.
Whatever way he comes back, Glover will knock it out of the park. And, LOL, love the idea of him coming back as future!shavedhead!Lex. Hee
I can totally imagine them using shaved!head John as a solution to the Lex Problem.
Oh god, I dread to think what they will do to further ruin Lionel's character. I'm sure JG will rock it though, whatever is forced upon him.
My hope is that we'll see Lionel standing (magnificently and evilly) over Lex in that tank from back in Memoria, and there will be a reveal that the last 6 years have been poor Lex's nightmares as Lionel tortured him. And then Clark will burst in, save Lex from the tank, scoop him up and run off to live happily ever after while the proper authorities arrest Lionel and send him to jail. If that happened I could even get behind Michael returning!
I like your ending! Lex will need a lot of Clark-cuddling & kissing to recover from his horrendous ordeal, poor baby.
JG has said he never watches SV, even when he was on. So he's gonna cruise in, out-cool everyone on the show, pocket his cash & head back to Broadway!
That would make for the most awesome SV episode EVER!

Your poll made me laugh out loud!
I don't watch SV anymore but I might, just to see what the frell they do with this. And Glover, of course.
Glover is supposed to appear in November episodes.
It will be interesting to see how Lionel returns - and if his plotline is connected to the return of Lex.
he's coming back? i wonder how they wanna do that. o.O
It's a puzzler, for sure!
as long as they don't screw it up, he can come back. but i really doubt the 'not screwing up' part >.>
I love your polls! You make all spoilers, good or bad, fun!
I especially appreciate your ticky boxes. I checked everything for the third question! I'm just so happy to see John Glover return to the show, I want it all. :)
If I had my druthers, Lionel would return as the fully realized Magnificent Bastard, even though JG's own wish was to end his run as one of the good guys. I still maintain that Lionel was bad to the end; the view of him as reformed was nothing but rationalization and self-delusion on his part.

Oh, me too! When he started to see Clark as a son-figure, he immediately starts abusing him "for his own good" in "Traveller", a microcosm of how he'd always treated Lex. If he'd lived, I believe he would have been an ongoing danger to Clark.

Exactly! Lionel always thought he knew better than anyone else, and sought only to ensure the outcomes he wanted to see, by whatever means necessary. He convinced himself he was fighting the good fight alongside Clark, but it was his own twisted version of "good." He remained manipulative and self-serving, and was still a stranger to the truth.
I do wonder if Lionel returning for two episodes isn't connected to Jonathon returning for two episodes. That would make sence as both of Clark's father figures-in sence, Lionel tried to be but Clark never really accepted him as such-return to him. And maybe Lionel will be used to point out that, Lex is really is still alive and, point to the boys working together in the future?
If he does return in the flesh, I'd love it if he gave Tess a speaking to!!!
That's very possible - Jonathan and Lionel as the "devil and the angel" on Clark's shoulders?
If he does return in the flesh, I'd love it if he gave Tess a speaking to
She re-decorated the manor in his absence - it's unacceptable!
Or maybe Lionel, helps him with stragegy whereas Jonathan helps with staying true to whom Clark is? Because if there was ever a time for the two teachings to come together (Luthor-battle stragegy and Kent Values) It would in dealing with Darkside you know?
