Oh, this is awesome. And you touch on one of the most important facets of Clark's character - the self-denial. It's one of the things we never really think about when it comes to Clark as Superman. We know he has to sacrifice a lot of things but it's never really there in black and white is it?

I have to laugh at Toyman. And here he was hoping that Superman would do something like kill Lex. Foiled! I wonder how he'd feel with the knowledge that he actually did Lex and Clark a favour, haha.

And shame, shame on Ollie. Jealousy gets him nowhere!

Wonderful story. Happy New Year. :-D

Thank you!

Yes, exactly. He could have anything he wanted, but he really chooses to take very little.

Highly frustrated & will channel that frustration into building robots!

Happy New Year to you too!

The perfect Christmas fic

Hi, I've just been rereading through Clexmas which reminded me how much I love all the Smallville fics you have written. This one is the perfect Christmas fic as far as I'm concerned. I really enjoyed the fact that the red K dose eventually lead to Clark being comparatively loving and romantic, rather than just straight out cave man. I love the way in which you show Lex as a genius, overriding the space ship controls and confounding Oliver.

I don't know if Checks and Balances was meant to be a follow on from this but unless you say otherwise, I'm choosing to take it as one. This is another brilliant fic. Being a Lex fan I don't have much sympathy for SV Oliver Queen and am always delighted when your Lex gets one over on him. Lex taking the higher ground and leaving Oliver seething was hilarious and Clark's reaction was unexpected and therefore even more enjoyable to read.

As I don't have an account I don't seem to be able to leave feedback on Clexmas, so apologies that it has only just occurred to me that I can do it here.

Also,I just reced Circe's Gift the other day and reread Powerless and your fics always stand up to rereading in my opinion.

(No LJ account but I review as mymindisblank on AO3).

Thank you very much for your kind comment and for the recs!

Oliver does make a good "would be" foil for Clex, even though the guys always find each other in the end. I hadn't thought in terms of Checks & Balances being a sequel but that does make a lot of sense!

If I remember right, that was the inspiration for the story: Lex managing to steal a spaceship on Xmas Eve! And I love when RedK allows Clark to express his emotions, he so often has to bottle up his feelings.
