Clex in new Superman Book! [Jun. 27th, 2012|10:02 pm]
tasabian
Just picked up a new book "Superman: the history of a high flying hero." The Smallville portion is brief but Our Boys get a shout-out!

"Lex is the most ambiguous character on any primetime series," Tom Carson wrote in Esquire. "You don't even know if he's lovelorn young Clark's rival for the affections of Lana Lang....or her rival for his." That last element - whether Lex's longing gazes at Clark meant he was gay - was fodder for fans and pundits. "I love it," Rosenbaum said. "In fact, if there's a line where I look at Clark and say "if you need me, I'm there," we laugh our asses off. It takes us ten takes to get it out. Let the audience think what they want to think."

Tomorrow, Michael & his diverse group of boyfriends (including Old Spice guy and Napoleon Dynamite) are off to ride the Lex Luthor rollercoaster!

Happy Birthday chrisluvstommy! Your boy presents his pretty, pretty mouth...

Clex is eternal indeed. Here's another quote from "Superman vs. Hollywood" about Smallville:
"Fans seemed to take particular delight in the exchanges between Clark and Lex, with the most sexually charged among them discerning homoerotic subtext behind their brotherly bond. Online fans would post "slash" fiction that detailed the duo's remarkable nocturnal appetites for each other. Rosenbaum wasn't quick to dissuade them telling Entertainment Weekly in 2003..." (same citation as above).
So I guess we're all sexually charged in here. LOL
There's another quote that makes me giggle:
"Clark and Lana would consummate their relationship the following year, finally stoking the overly smothered libido of the main character, who had been surrounded by beautiful and willing admirers for five seasons."
I always cursed that lack of libido myself.

Thanks for the quotes - I love them! Always great when Clex gets an "official" mention.

Clark was far too pure and far too dressed! All those people wanting to ravish him & yet he resists!
