Brian Peterson: “Obviously Michael Rosenbaum is one of the best actors. You definitely haven’t heard the last of Lex. The door is open to Michael Rosenbaum when he’s done going out and pursing his other endeavors.”
(This is a little presumptuous, surely? Never mind! Tell us more about the "open door.")
Here's Peterson earlier this week: "Michael is fantastic. His rendition of Lex Luthor helped make the show what it is today. Obviously, we were very sad to see him go. He's pursuing his own interests and we're hoping the door is definitely open for him to return. We've not seen the last of Lex Luthor."
(Wait - Tell me the status of "the door" again? It's open, right?)
In contrast, producer Darren Swimmer, attempted the "playing hard to get" approach:
Newsrama: With Michael are you pacing yourself on calling on him to reappear for the true end of the series?
Darren Swimmer: It’s too early to presume that season eight will be the last, so it would be premature to make any kind of a call.
(Did Tom read this and hit the roof? "What the hell????" )
Swimmer: "Once we made the shift in our minds, we moved forward with the new characters and dynamics. We aren’t constantly saying to ourselves, “Damn, I wish we could use Lex in this scene.”
This, I don't believe for one minute. I think they're suffering through a constant state of Lex-lessness and Rosenbaum Withdrawal. "Come back to us, baby...."
Producer Todd Slavkin had this to say about the show ending: “We hope that doesn’t happen for a long, long time, but when it does happen, fans won’t be disappointed…”
A "long long time"? So...five more years? They'll keep the rest of the cast hostage until Rosenbaum agrees to come back? (Incidentally, of all the producers I am most jealous of Slavkin because MR played the following practical joke on him: he discovered which room Slavkin was staying in at a spa, called him up and told him he had a "package delivery" and when Slavkin opened the door, Michael was standing there naked! This is obviously the Best Joke Ever. In my head, Michael plays this joke on Tom on a regular basis.)
Enough with producers; Time for some Pretty!
This scene in "Labyrinth" made me sob but it's great to see the boys having fun on set. Photo credit: andreas_ri
Now, Tom could be smiling at what Allison is saying or at the photographer....but since this is "Freak" and he's looking all mischievous , I'm going to pretend he's looking at his director and remembering making naughty doodles all over Michael's script. credit: andreas_ri
