|Brief History of Jealous Men, Part 2

I love pic-spamming hot men on a cold winter's night...Clark and Lex are always beautiful but somehow mutual possessiveness just makes them extra sexy!
Part one of the Jealous!Clex post is here:
Even in an action-packed episode like "Delete", Tom manages to squeeze in a jealous!Clark moment. Lex has just reached out to touch Molly Grigg's face as Clark walks in...
Say it with Tom: "WHAT'S GOING ON?" (Jealous!Clark's favourite phrase!)
Lex knows he just got caught with a hand in the cookie jar!
A few episodes later, Alicia's on the scene and it's Lex's turn to be jealous. This is a classic example of a scene that, played straight, would just be two guys discussing a girl. Fortunately, Tom and Michael opt not to pay it straight.
The scene opens with a juicy close-up of Michael's pecs:
Lex sounds amused, but his face is tense. He's got his back turned so Clark can't see his expression as he speaks: "You've gone on one date with this girl, and already she's sneaking into your bedroom, putting sexy pictures of herself in your locker, and practically asking her parents to book the wedding chapel." Lex doesn't approve.
Lex: "In my experience, a person doesn't develop this kind of fixation unless she's been encouraged to think the relationship is more than just casual."
Hmmm, who could Lex possibly be talking about....
Clark: "You're saying I led her on?" *sexy eyelash flutter*
Lex: "I'm saying I've been there." He's talking about YOU, Clark! Stop leading Lex on! The genius of this scene is that Michael takes a little pause for the boys to stare at each other and build up the sexual tension.
Next up, the most over-the-top of all Jealous!Clex episodes: "Bound"! Al & Miles probably wanted writer Luke Schelhaas to write a "Lex is becoming villainous" story. But Schelhaas likes to write Clex (see his previous Clex extravaganza "Devoted.") So what we get is a muddled episode with a goofy premise - casual sex drives women crazy!- and lots of emotional Clex stuff.
Lex's lawyer tells him she's not there to hold his hand. Fortunately, Clark marches in ready to do exactly that. He also glares at the lawyer, because she's a woman near Lex.
They do enjoy saying each other's names! Clark is upset, wanting to hear that Lex "didn't do this." In the context of the scene it's hard to tell if Clark's referring to murder, or to sleeping with a woman. As always, Clark is pretty in his jealousy.
Lex squeezes Clark's arms. Sexy! All Clark cares about is: "Who was she?" Who's the "Other Woman"?
Lex, still holding Clark, tries to explain that this is something he never does, it just happened, he got caught up in the moment. He looks so beautiful, how can Clark not believe him?
Poor Clark is devastated when Chloe's research reveals there have been other one night stands. Lex, how could you?!
After another sexy quarrel with Lex, there is more bad news for Clark. Chloe has video footage of Lex's tryst!
Clark moans that Lex lied to him about "all those women". One of the inadvertently hilarious aspects of this episode, is that Clark never seems to care all that much about solving the murder; he's too preoccupied with Lex's sex life.
Chloe tactfully fast-forwards over the footage so Clark doesn't have to see Lex with someone else. Clark pouts.
Predictably, Lex ends up in bondage. Look at his shirt before Clark rescues him: buttoned!
And after Clark's rescue, check out the shirt...Did Clark decide to cop a Lexy feel while saving him from the fire? This attention to detail is why I will always love Smallville.
Time for some angst in the barn! Michael said that he, Tom and the director struggled with how to play this scene. They seem to have opted for the "jealous" route. If Clark is talking to Lex as a friend here, the scene plays as callous. However, if he's playing Clark as a jealous, still-hurting boyfriend, then the anger & petulance makes sense.
Clark: "I don't want to hear anything; I want you to change." (And don't EVER cheat on me again.)
Both boys are so beautiful and anguished and teary-eyed!
Lex: "Don't give up on me!" Aw, baby! I could totally believe that 15 seconds after this scene ends, there was flannel and silk hitting the barn floor and lots of cathartic make-up sex going on!
(Tom also gives a Clex shout-out in one of "Bound's" deleted scenes. As he rushes along with Chloe, he says "I have to know if CLEX could do this." I ♥ Tom.)
In "Lucy", Clark and Lex are having a coffee:
Lois comes over and introduces Lucy. Lex gives her a friendly greeting:
Uh-oh, that was a little TOO friendly. Clark doesn't like it! Lex gets a disapproving glance.
Lex looks at him reassuringly. You know, it's all about you, baby! *flirts*
In "Aqua", Clark brings A.C. to the mansion and introduces him as a "friend from out of town."
Lex doesn't like this one bit. The body language is easy to read!
Arthur storms out and Clark and Lex have a fight. Afterwards, Lex tries to contain his emotion...
And doesn't succeed. His pretty eyes are shiny with tears. Aw, Clark...why does it have to be so hard?
Poor Lex - S5 was hard on his heart. He also doesn't like Clark's relationship with his new professor.
I think Clark's being a little tease here, staring at Lex with parted lips. Oh, boys!
In "Hypnotic", Lex hires Simone to investigate Clark. Simone reports that Clark is a good kisser. Is Lex happy to hear this?
No. There are downcast eyes...
Next there is lip-biting. I won't cry...I won't cry.
After S5, the boys still have their moments of jealousy - one of the best jealous Lex-lines happens in "Crimson", after Lex has seen Lana with Clark. (Lex: "I wouldn't know...I wasn't the one kissing him!!!") If there was less Clex jealousy in the latter seasons, I think it was because Clark and Lex became more secure of their role, for better or worse, in each other's lives. In "Mortal", Clark refers to Lex's "obsession" with him and he mentions several times that Lex's relationship with Lana is really all about him. (Clark: "He'd throw her to the lions, just to spite me!") And Lex too, comes to realize that he doesn't need Lana in the mansion to keep Clark's attention; Clark will still come to him, and sometimes for completely gratuitous reasons, like asking for comics advice in "Action."
And anyway, when you are destined to be locked together at the hips for eternity (just like Naman & Segeth) there's no need for jealousy! Clex is forever ♥
