Michael back on television! [Jul. 25th, 2009|03:10 pm]

Big yay for Tommy the Executive Producer!

Michael on a new show! (This press release came out yesterday. YTV is a Canadian network)

THAT'S SO WEIRD!
Premieres: Wednesday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Produced by Halifax Film in association with YTV, That's So Weird! is
what happens when seven teens band together to save So Weird TV, a third rate
television network, where the programming is even weirder than the name. So
Weird TV airs commercial parodies, bizarre game shows and features regular
guest appearances by celebrities such as Sean Astin and Michael Rosenbaum,
athletes Matt Stajan and Jason Blake, as well as musicians, including Eva
Avila.

(This sounds like a junior version of the great SCTV, mixed with "You Can't Do That on Television." Seems like a smart move by Michael: he can make appearances between other engagements & maybe make some short films for them too?)

And on a Smallville note, there are new Ausiello spoilers

Ausiello writes of his encounter with SV producer Brian Peterson
I saved the best for last: Peterson recently had dinner with Michael Rosenbaum. Interpret as you like.

Hmmmm....at the Screaming Tiki Con panel, Michael seemed like he'd really moved on from SV. I'm not convinced Peterson could coax him back. Tom, on the other hand...

*random Clex-pretty* Love how the boys' faces blur together.

I think Michael would be great on a kids show. I'm just glad he continues to work!

I definitely have mixed feelings about those Smallville spoilers, so I'm not going to dwell on them at the moment. Noted and filed. :)

In other news, how cool is it that you were re-tweeted by James Gunn?! And that was an amazing story you linked.

Canada has a history of quirky kids' shows - this seems like it wouldn't take much of Michael's time, but would be lots of fun, especially if he can write a short film or two for them!

And this year, anything people don't like will be blamed on poor E.P Tommy! I do wonder if Tom will induce Michael to return - let him keep his hair, promise him a good plot-line?

Thanks! He sounded glum & that story made me smile. I'm a cheeky tweeter today - just sent the "That's so weird" link to Michael, to see if it gets us a little additional info!

That's Our Boy, always choosing the unbeaten path!

I hope I can get the chance to see his stuff online, as I don't have cable or a dish.

They may put entire episodes up online - or hopefully a US network will pick it up!

Yay for Michael's new show! Sounds interesting.

Story-wise, Peterson is not approaching this season as Smallville's last.
Noooooooooo! This show will not die!

I really hope Michael isn't considering going back, especially if it's not even the series finale. And call me a big cynic, but I doubt that Tom will have much power to make the show better, new title or not. Aren't co-exec producer credits mainly vanity titles? The producers will cave to whatever the network wants.

Also, all credit to the SV PR department this time - everyone at Comic-Con will be too busy drooling over Tom to ask any serious questions about WTF they were thinking last season or why they are rehashing the same old plot yet again.

Bah, I am negative today, sorry.

It sounds good because he can drop in & out when he's available. Plus, it'll be cute to see him "playing himself."

Tom is probably thinking long-term deal with WB. I'm happy for him career-wise, but the show is still going to have a tiny budget and er...not the best writers around.

I really hope Michael isn't considering going back, especially if it's not even the series finale.
But if Tom bats those long gorgeous lashes and says "please...", then who knows? Michael might say yes to Tom. I only want Michael to go back if Lex gets a non-stupid story arc, ie Clark and Lex-with-hair team up to defeat Zod and then have a frenzied make-out session.

Also, all credit to the SV PR department this time - everyone at Comic-Con will be too busy drooling over Tom to ask any serious questions about WTF they were thinking last season or why they are rehashing the same old plot yet again.
Yep. The fans will be in a state of Tom-frenzy & all S8 complaints will be forgotten. Plus, the fanboys are drooling over the possibility of a suit.

I think Lex(michael) should only come back if it is the last season. Tom could probably convince him...and for a good storyline!!! Not a crappy one. And how great is it that he will be back on our screens? Not only in Spacey's new flick but also on this show. Nice to know he is getting work!!!!

Maybe with Tom in charge he will? (If he gets to keep his hard-won hair, of course!)

Dinner?! Woot!

Although I still want to see MR try his hand at Iago in a production of Othello.

I think Michael would be a brilliant Hotspur!

That, too. He needs to do some Shakespeare, regardless. Did he ever say if he did Shakespeare in college?

Shakespeare is mentioned in this interview - but a role is not specified:

I like Hotspur for Michael because his own relatives have to beg him to stop talking!
