Brief comments *spoilery*

- Opening teaser was awesome! Clark using his smarts & a bunch of powers & saving everybody. Excellent rescue! And there was even some sunshine and a scene shot on location! Good Smallville, here's a cookie!

- The nerdy witness who just wanted attention was very endearing. I want him to turn up at every Metropolis crisis situation, pining for Clark's attention.

- We're supposed to be entranced by Clark's insight into Lois's thoughts but I actually felt more emotional for all the poor Queen company investors stressing about their money.

- Lois gets her best line of the season: "You can't lose me, Smallville. I have the internet on my phone!"

- Toyman is completely awesome for a) writing an insulting speech for Oliver and b) forcing him to confess to Lex's murder or get blown up real good. Bravo! If I could write a speech for Oliver that would be the precise one I'd choose. It's looping in my head right now! Toyman, you are welcome back any time!

- Of course, this being Smallville, Clark has to wreck it by apologizing to Oliver for ignoring his epic man-pain. And then Oliver looked in a window and - DAMNIT! - there was a stupid fake!Lex reflected there. Stop using fake Lexes!!!

Better than I expected and the last ep. I'll see live for a month.

I really hate the part in Mexico, I'm Latin and why he can't go to a bar with hookers in the US. Why it has to be Mexico...
Yes, that was so rude. They could easily have used a Metropolis bar.

The "Lex" was more shorter and fat ... I was like WTF?
I know! That's NOT Lex, stop showing him.

I could barely see the Lex with the bad picture on my tv--I wasn't even sure it was him. I'm glad Oliver is at least feeling some guilt. And, yeah, I hated Clark's apology: Oliver's the new Lana, I guess. I immediately thought: why couldn't he ever say something half that understanding that to Lex?

IMO, Clark is able to take a more measured approach to Oliver because he's not crazy in love with him. With Lex, there was always that spurned-lover-angst thing going on. With Oliver, Clark talks like a sobriety counselor: there's much less emotion there. But you're right about Oliver being Lana this year - Tess is willing to kill to protect him? Clois are going to have a rift over him? I think Toyman has the correct attitude towards Blondie!

I totally agree about the Toyman's speech. I just ate that scene up with a spoon, especially when Ollie admitted afterwards that it was basically true. That made it a lot easier for me to take Clark apologizing to him AGAIN. I wanted to be angry about that somehow but it really worked for me that Clark is starting to see his flaws and limitations more clearly. And although it's not shown on screen, I can't help but think his relationship with Lex is in play here as well. He admitted in Nemesis that maybe he gave up too fast on Lex, so now with Ollie is going to try to prevent it from happening again. I thought it was a very touching scene, almost ruined by the fake Lex at the end. Assuming that was a hallucination though, I'm going to let the show get away with it this once.

That's a cool theory! Yay, Clark-growth! I also see Clark as having more emotional distance from Oliver - Clark's almost becoming like a life coach for him. There was no emotional distance from Lex. They could not be rational about each other.

Rarely has a SV speech been so cathartic!

They better not imply that fake!Lex is possessing Ollie, or that Ollie sees himself as "becoming" Lex. (Dude, you're worse! Lex would never have left his baby alone & krypto-darted in the street. He was cuddling Clark right up to his last moment!)

Well, I can see OLLIE thinking that he is becoming the new Lex, since Ollie never ever saw the good points of Lex like his incredible bravery in Jitters, not to mention his actions in Arctic. Or the fact that Lex is really, really smart when not obsessed by Lana. In this respect, Smallville Lex is much like post Crisis comics Lex - Superman's archenemy who is nonetheless willing to declare a truce and do all he can to help when the world is on the line. Ollie on the other hand will never be much more than a 3rd string hero with a tendancy to fly off at the handle.

Oh baby, you got a way with words! Yes!

Maybe Ollie thinks if he is the new Lex, he will get some Clark-snuggle time...

Lois gets her best line of the season: "You can't lose me, Smallville. I have the internet on my phone!"
Yes, yes, a million times yes! Also the fact that the plaid shirt she was wearing to the monster truck rally was obviously one of Clark's. She must have snitched it while she was living with them in S4.

Feel free! I'm having fun imagining a scene that has Clark confronting Lois over the theft of one of favorite shirts. And freaking out over the fact that she cut the sleeves off.

Lex just won't be able to believe that Lois was able to beat him to such an awesome collectible item. It was last one he need to have a complete set!

They had a great villain team-up in Toyman + Tess tonight, and Zod & his pissed off Kandorians in reserve. (And Metallo too.) I think it's unnecessary to tease fake!Lex. People get excited for the return of Michael & that's not happening. Even if Michael was available, they have no budget for him this year.

(And the Lex-puppet-thingy hurts my eyes!)

I actually disliked this one a lot. Of the first 4, most certainly my least favorite.

Words cannot express how much I'm hating this Oliver crap, and that we've had back-to-back eps of Clark apologizing to Oliver, while Oliver says absolutely nothing back to him. Unreal!

I wouldn't liked that first scene if we hadn't had Clark backhand a completely innocent hostage, and then apparently never address the issue.

Toyman was great, but once again, he really has nothing of significance to do with Clark. And thats just a bummer.

Weirdly, this episode seems to have united TwoP and K-site....in not liking it!

Toyman was great, but once again, he really has nothing of significance to do with Clark. And thats just a bummer.
I did like how chuffed he was to have Clark as a "fan." And that Clark figured out he was talking to a robot. The face-melting was cool.

I kept mentally willing Oliver to finish the damn speech! Toyman crafted it so beautifully - it said all I've been wanting to hear. (And Justin delivered it well, though I have no Ollie-sympathy.) But it peeves me that Ollie sees himself as Lex: not even close, pal! You will never hold Lex-rank in Clark's life.

I wouldn't liked that first scene if we hadn't had Clark backhand a completely innocent hostage, and then apparently never address the issue.
Heh, yeah, so much for that poor guy. There was some callousness around the victims tonight. Lois, don't insult the traumatized lady! And Tess shooting Toyman in the knee seemed gratuitous. He'd totally work on the heart for his own kicks. (I fear Tess did this to avenge Oliver which makes it ever suckier.)

Still enjoyed it more that Savior & Metallo, though not so much as Rabid. But then, I was expecting maximum Oliver so having lots of Clark was a nice surprise.

Ugh, stupid fake Lex.

Lois' line made me laugh out loud. Hehe.

I felt for the Queen investors too, and I was rooting for Toyman. About time someone made Ollie fess up for being a murderer!

I hated the fake Lex too! but at least it wasn't the "real" one, it was just a hellucination!

The scene with Oliver's speech was awesome. I liked the part where he couldn't say he was a murderer in frond of everyone. He was sweating a lot!

Heh, I admit I chuckled at this too. And perfectly delivered by ED.

It was definitely good to see Toyman again and I liked that we were left with a chance of him returning, but on the whole the ep bored me a bit. Not my favorite of the season.

Toyman needs a proper face-off with Clark next time but if he wants to force Oliver to read another speech, I won't complain!

STOP teasing us with the fake!Lex images - its too depressing
Fake!Lex looks nothing like our beautiful Lex!!!

Smallville really lacks focus now that the strong foil (Lex) to Clark (Superman) is gone. Clark is really lost. And these smaller characters like Oliver and the small villans like Toyman are trying to cover up the fact that there is no focus to the plots anymore. There is no 'end game'.
The absence of the Clex dynamic leaves a big hole...manor scenes always make me sad now because it feels wrong to see the manor without Lex walking through the door.
